Beaumont, Texas

Clarkson lists one house that he designed in Beaumont.  The house was designed for E. E. Plumly, who was the district manager for Magnolia Petroleum.  The source for the house did come up with two useable addresses. In an email the source states:

The city directories for Beaumont from 1921 to 1923 list a Elmer E. Plumly as General Manager of the Magnolia Petroleum Company Refinery and living at 1820 Calder Avenue.  Then sometime between 1924 or 1925 this same individual moved to 2175 North Street.  We would speculate that the home designed by your grandfather was the residence on North Street.

The house was found on North Street with out much trouble at all and spotted the house by the design.  I was then able to confirm the address as being 2175 North Street.  The house is in very good condition, having survived hurricanes and other severe weather over the years.  It is now in use as a law office for several  attorney's.  This house would fit quite well into the Ryan Place addition where Clarkson designed houses during the same time period.

Magnolia Petroleum District Office

Clarkson also designed multiple projects for the Magnolia Petroleum Company in several cities.  In Beaumont, he designed several filling stations (all have been demolished) and a four story building used as their district head quarters, also demolished and replace with newer office buildings.
